It is nearly 52 years scince the first A-bomb in history dropped at Hiroshima. As the Cold War was over, the nuclear threat decreased. And the judgement of ICJ last year showed that the world is consenting to abolition of nuclear weapons.
But 40000 nuclear weapons are still left, so the situation is un predictable. And regional conflict occurs one by one,and the food problem, population problem, and the environmental problem threat existence and dignity of human beings. So,"peace creating" efforts as resolving these problems are nesessity more and more. In view of such situation, We are convinced that you will deepen your understanding of peace through the 1000-crane project and study more hard and "create" the world of peace.

Let us forge the bonds of friendship so strong that no military madness can ever break them.
Japan and America as the two biggest economies in the world and the experience of a most terrible war should show the world the importance of human rights and the prosperity to which those rights let us earn and share be an example to all mankind for now and the future.
Our love for Japan has grown with the friends we have made and we hope their love for America has grown with it. May God bless all the children in showing the adults the way to peace . . .

We are writing from a 3/4 multiage classroom in Seekonk, MA. We have a guest from Japan named Akiko. Kiki has taught us a great deal about Japan and has read to us the book named "Sadako and the 1000 Paper Cranes." When she returns to Japan in May, she will be bringing 1000 paper cranes made by the students in 3 classes in our school. She will place them on the Hiroshima Peace Monument on August 6.

Hello, My name is Kathy Perret and I teach 4th grade at Woodbury Central Community School in Moville, Iowa, USA.
My class of 23 4th graders are currently reading the book Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. I'm am "surfing the web" to find information to help them. It looks like you have been involved with some beautiful projects.
My class has begun to fold paper cranes. I am looking for a fourth grade class to correspond with during the next few months. I have found several addresses, and have sent several emails tonight - hoping to find someone out there. When we finish with our cranes we would love to send them to Japan to be used in any Peace Day ceremonies.
Writing this message to you stirs up a lot of emotions. I'm wondering if the "invention of the internet" may one day create World Peace. In just a few seconds I will click on the send button, and you will receive this message - joining our two countries!
I've enjoyed looking through your Web site. Everyone involved in putting it together should be congratulated on doing such a nice job. You are much more advanced than we are! :) This is the first year I've had access to the Internet. I'm finding it very resourceful!
Thank you for your time. If you know of a class that would like to correspond with us during our remaining months of school this year (April and May), please let me know. Also, if you know of a good place to send our cranes, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Have a beautiful day. Peace to all of you.

We are 4th grade students from Chipeta Elementary in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We read the book, Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. We thought your home page was very interesting. Please print this message and fold it into a crane in memory of Sadako. How do you feel about the U.S.A dropping the bomb on Japan?
Cedar City Public Children's Librarian (USA)
To see you students at Nagatsuka Elementary School - we give you a great big hug and hello!!
We are boy and girls who go to the public library in Cedar City, Utah. This past year we had a project of making over 1000 cranes. We completed the project and now we're sending them to your elementary school. We hope that a delegation from your school will place them on Sadako's statue or take them where they should be put.
We loved the book, Sadako and the 1000 Peace Cranes. We love the true story very much and we want to promote world peace also.
We 're hoping to hear from you! Thank you!
Sinserely, Susan Johnson

St.Augustine's School in St.Jone's, Newfoundland, Canada, recently took part in a series of 'Peace' activities which included the reading of Sadako and the Thouthand Paper Cranes. Both students and staff where moved by the story and made the enclosed paper cranes as a symbol of our dedication to world peace.
On behalf of the students and staff of St.Augustine's School I would like to thank you for accepting these cranes to be placed at the Children's Peace Monument in Hiroshima.

Hi. My little girl's elementary school is preparing 1000 cranes to send to Hiroshima as part of the Cranes Project. A teacher heard about the project and began the effort. However, she did not have an address to send to and asked me to look it up online.
I found your page but noticed that this project began in 1995, and appears to have ended last year. Is it over, or is this a continuing project, every year?
If the project is ongoing, please provide an address that the school can ship the cranes to. We are located near Vancouver, Canada. Thanks!

Please, let me know about your projects for 1997. I'm a school teacher (Portugal, pupils of 10-12 years old) and we are precisely working on a Project about Peace and... Hiroshima.
